When I ran this file, a different restore tool opened and I was able to select my RAID Array! Yay!!! I finally browsed around in drive X: while in the WinPE Rescue environment and found x:\Program Files\Macrium\DiskRestore.exe. Only the disks that were available at boot time could be seen. I could browse to it with explorer, I could copy files to it, but the Reflect Rescue Disk Restore GUI refused to see it when I clicked “Select a disk to restore to”. HOWEVER, I could not select it for a restore-to location in the Rescue Disk GUI. I also had to use DISKPART to create and format a partition on the array, assign a drive letter, make the partition primary and even tried making the partition active. ( I stumbled across this solution at, and even though it is listed as a solution for Server 2011 products, it also worked for me in Win PE). I discovered that I can open a command window and manually run “drvload arcsas.inf” a second time and the array is now seen by Diskpart. “DrvLoad: The driver requires the machine to reboot d:\\drivers\Disk\VEN_9005_DEV_028B\arcsas.inf.” So I looked in the Rescuepe.log file and found this: I booted with a WinPE Rescue Disk that was created AFTER installing the 6805, so it has the driver, but it would not see the RAID array at this point.

I installed a new Adaptec 6805 RAID Controller, configured the drives in RAID 5 – Two arrays of 2 TB each, spread across three 2TB HDD’s. All 3 drives in the RAID array were upgraded recently from 320GB models, but the Dell Cert 1.5 RAID card that came in this server doesn’t work with drives larger than 750 GB so we temporarily went single-drive off of the onboard SATA port. I have a full backup made with Macrium Reflect Server 5.1 (From a single 2TB drive. Create a new RAID 5 array and restore the system image to it. I’ve had an interesting weekend dealing with what I thought would be a rather simple task. Adaptec 6805 RAID Drivers Don't Load Properly
